Methods

NameDescription
WP_Block_Type::__constructConstructor.
WP_Block_Type::__getProxies getting values for deprecated properties for script and style handles for backward compatibility.
WP_Block_Type::__issetProxies checking for deprecated properties for script and style handles for backward compatibility.
WP_Block_Type::__setProxies setting values for deprecated properties for script and style handles for backward compatibility.
WP_Block_Type::get_attributesGet all available block attributes including possible layout attribute from Columns block.
WP_Block_Type::is_dynamicReturns true if the block type is dynamic, or false otherwise. A dynamic block is one which defers its rendering to occur on-demand at runtime.
WP_Block_Type::prepare_attributes_for_renderValidates attributes against the current block schema, populating defaulted and missing values.
WP_Block_Type::renderRenders the block type output for given attributes.
WP_Block_Type::set_propsSets block type properties.

User Contributed Notes

  1. Skip to note 2 content

    When the register_block_type() function is invoked, an instance of WP_Block_Type is created and the same instance is registered with singleton WP_Block_Type_Registry instance that acts as the registry of all block types.

    The instance method register() in WP_Block_Type_Registry class –

    public function register( $name, $args = array() ) {
    		$block_type = null;
    		.....

    		if ( ! $block_type ) {
    			$block_type = new WP_Block_Type( $name, $args );
    		}

    		$this->registered_block_types[ $name ] = $block_type;

    		return $block_type;
    	}

    called by register_block_type() function –

    function register_block_type( $name, $args = array() ) {
    	return WP_Block_Type_Registry::get_instance()->register( $name, $args );
    }
